Sediments and Seashores - Quarantine Island

By 10CrlScience

Does dredging in the harbour affect the sediment levels on the shore?

This is a question we were asked before going on this investigtion. Our class were assigned a location on Quarantine island and we took 2 samples during terms 2 and 3. We used a square quadrant that was along a measuring tape, we moved the quadrants backwards and fowards at the same length. We looked at the diversity of species at low and mid tide in our quadrant. We also looked at the percentage of seaweed, sediment, boulders, cobble etc in the quadrant. smiley
