Identify

Eggs or Worm Casts?

By Tessa

These were photographed by Russell Begley on Warrington Beach today (29 June 2017).  They were described as being like soft, rubbery shells and the same colour as the sand.  When picked up they held their shape but were very easy to pull apart.  Can anyone shed some light on what they are?

Russel also found a dead seahorse washed up on the shore.

Comments:

They are the egg cases of the Moon or necklace snail. They may have been washed in as these snails are more common very low on the shore or even subtidally. Nice find 😅
